What kind of certification do I get upon completion?
Students who complete SmartStart for Paddlers can print out their own certification card. The card must be signed in order to be valid and will be numbered for identification. The card may be folded and laminated to a business card size. This allows the student to easil carry present the card as proof of safety education for liveries and paddling destinations, such as National Parks, that require safety education for paddlers.
How much time does it take?
The course has been taken and passed in as little as 20 minutes. Most students will require a minimum of about 45 minutes.
Once I purchase a course, can I take it at any time?
Yes. At present there is no requirement that a course be taken within a certain amount of time. Students make take a portion of a course and return at a later date or as many times as they wish in order to complete SmartStart for Paddlers.
Once I finish a course, can I take it again without repurchase?
Yes. SmartStart for Paddlers contains many paddling resources that paddlers may wish to refer to in the future. It will be available for at least one year after purchase and longer if resources allow. Paddlers may always go to the American Canoe Association web site for more paddling resources.
